Local Lodge 1930 City Beat
News

ARE YOU, OR ARE YOU NOT…..A MEMBER?4/28/2008 Did you know you could be paying fees to the Union and not be a Union Member? Take a look at your check stub. If it says IAM AGENCY or IAM-PTAGEN (part-timers), you are actually an agency fee payer – not a member. What is the difference? There is no difference in the amount you pay, but you do not have the rights of a member who can attend all Local Lodge Meetings, vote on issues, participate and have a voice in contract negotiations including voting on the contract, vote on the Officers who will run the Local Lodge, and so on. Why don’t we make everyone a Union Member? The courts have decided that since everyone shares in the raises and additional benefits the Union negotiates, all employees can be charged a fee, but they cannot be required to join the Union. Employees wishing to join must check the membership box on the application. Check it out! Contact the District Office at (562) 437-7411 today if your check stub does not say IAM DUES. Become a Member and participate in your Local Lodge and current negotiations with the City.
